About the Event

As we start our spring discussion series, we will follow the advice of Crystal Wilkinson and read Belonging: A Culture of Place by bell hooks. We encourage you to join us, even if you have not yet read the book, as we contemplate the ways hooks describes the importance of local food and nature to black communities in Kentucky. We will also consider implications for environmental education and Kentucky Green Schools.

What does it mean to call a place home? Who is allowed to become a member of a community? When can we say that we truly belong?
