Project Learning Tree

Picture
Since it began in the early 1970s, PLT has been recognized as one of the premier environmental education programs in the world.  PLT uses the forest as a window on the world to increase students’ understanding of our environment; stimulate students’ critical and creative thinking; develop students’ ability to make informed decisions on environmental issues; and instill in students the commitment to take responsible action on behalf of the environment.

Since 2012, KAEE  is proud to serve as state sponsor and coordinator of Kentucky PLT.
If you are interested in hosting a workshop in your area, please contact us.  We have a growing network of  facilitators across the state that host workshops.  If you are interested in becoming a facilitator, we hold an annual facilitator training.  Contact us for more information.

Project Learning Tree curricula:
  • For elementary educators, there is a PreK-8 guide.
  • For secondary educators, six secondary modules are available: Focus on Risk; Focus on Forests; Municipal Solid Waste; and The Changing Forest: Forest Ecology; Forests of the World; and Places We Live.
  • For early childhood educators, there is an Environmental Experiences for Early Childhood developed especially for educators of children ages 3-7.
