About the Event

Designed not only for formal educators but also for those working in the field through their roles as staff in state parks or reserves; environmental, residential, and nature centers; or farmers' markets, this intensive workshop will enhance educators' understanding of the Kentucky Academic Standards through environmental education activities. Upon completion of the two-day event, participants will be trained in Project Learning Tree, Project WET,  Project WILD, and the K-12 Learning NAAEE Guidelines for Excellence.

On-site overnight accommodations are available for $8. Lodging is rustic in nature - a semi-private bunkhouse on each side of the lodge. Showers are available. Please bring linens, a blanket, and a pillow. To learn more about Maywoods, visit https://naturalareas.eku.edu/maywoods-environmental-and-educational-laboratory.

The following meals are included in the registration fee, 7/22 - lunch and dinner, and 7/23 - breakfast and lunch. Participants will also receive a physical copy of each curriculum and activity guide.

The Bootcamp will be facilitated by Dr. Melinda Wilder, Former Director of the Division of Natural Areas at Eastern Kentucky University and Professor Emeritus; Vivian Bowles, retired Madison County science teacher; Destiny Cornett, EKU Division of Natural Areas; Dr. Brian Clark, EKU Professor; and Brittany Wray, KAEE Deputy Director. Each day’s activities will focus on activities from Project Learning Tree, Project WET, and Project WILD, with a deep dive into the Kentucky Academic Standards (not just science!) and the correlations for these award-winning environmental education curricula.

Cost: $149 non-members | $129 members
