
Job Description
The Environmental Education Leadership Corps (EELCorps) is an AmeriCorps​ program where members serve at sites across Kentucky. The main goal of every EELCorps member is to help Kentucky learners build connections with the environmental world around them through environmental education.
1700-hour positions are full-time.
900-hour positions are part-time.

Boyle County Fiscal Court-Solid Waste (1700-hour position)
Creasey Mahan State Nature Preserve (900-hour position)
Fayette County Public Schools (900-hour position)
Franklin County Fiscal Court-Solid Waste (900-hour position)
Franklin Simpson Parks and Recreation (1700-hour position)
Jefferson Memorial Forest (1700-hour position)
Kenton County Conservation District (1700-hour position)
Louisville Nature Center (1700-hour position)
Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Waste Management District (900-hour position)
The Parklands of Floyd's Fork (1700-hour position)
Essential Functions of the Position:
Member directly delivers environmental programs or activities of at least 20 minutes duration to the clients of the service site. This may include individuals or groups.
Member consistently conducts the EELCorps Participant Survey provided by the Program for all lessons, activities or programs the Member performs lasting more than 20 minutes.
Member maintains accurate and confidential records of the number of people that have received direct instruction, and all survey responses for submission during monthly EELCorps Data Collection.
Member completes Monthly Data Collection by the 1st Monday of each month and bi-weekly timesheets by the specified due dates.
Member develops new EE programs or activities that support the mission of the service site.
Member assesses the effectiveness of their instruction in cooperation with their service site.
Member communicates service activity to, and maintains open communication with site supervisors, and EELC staff via regular professional meetings and through reports completed in OnCorps.
Member attends and completes all requirements for the required member trainings and professional development, including required monthly EELCorps meetings.
Member seeks opportunities to lead or assist with programs in support of EE and increasing the environmental stewardship in the communities they serve. (This may include assisting with marketing and promoting EE opportunities offered at the service site).
Member seeks opportunities to build strong relationships with site and community partners who support the EELCorps goal of using the environment as a framework for instruction in all content areas.
Member speaks to civic organizations about experiences in AmeriCorps service.
Member presents at environmentally focused conferences, summits, and symposiums when possible.
Member participates in mandatory meetings and trainings with EELCorps and Serve Kentucky.
Member participates in AmeriCorps Week and other service projects as directed by EELCorps.
Requirements
Per AmeriCorps eligibility requirements, AmeriCorps members must:
Be 17 years or older (no upper age limit)
Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien
Be able and willing to undergo and pass a National Service Criminal History Check
The ideal EELCorps member will have the following:
A willingness to lead in-person or virtual lessons, activities, or programs,
A positive and encouraging attitude,
A willingness to learn and implement best practices in EE and related fields,
Some background in environmental or outdoor education (preferred, but not required)
Compensation
AmeriCorps Members earn a living allowance ($21,000 for 1700 hours, $10,500 for 900 hours)
AmeriCorps Members who complete their service also earn the Segal Education Award ($7,395 for 1700 hours, $3,697.50 for 900 hours)
