Swamp Milkweed is a native perennial that grows 4–5 feet tall and produces showy clusters of pink and white flowers. It prefers moist areas like stream banks, wet meadows, pond edges, and ditches, but can also tolerate seasonally dry soils. It grows best in full sun to part shade.

This plant is a great choice for rain gardens, detention areas, and other wet spots, and it’s often used in wetland restoration and wildlife plantings. It’s deer resistant and an important host plant for monarch caterpillars and many other pollinators.
