About the Event

Digital Accessibility

Would your documents and social media posts pass an accessibility test? CoP facilitator Roberta Burnes will be our guest presenter in August for an informative session about improving the accessibility of your materials for people with disabilities. Have your smartphone ready for some hands-on practice! Roberta Burnes is an Environmental Scientist Advisor with the Kentucky Division for Air Quality and a Kentucky Master Environmental Educator.

JEDI Community of Practice (CoP)

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

This is a learning community of individuals working to foster and support practices of racial justice, equity, inclusion, and diversity in the outdoors and environmental work. Every other month, we come together to learn, dive deep into different topics of interest, hear from guest speakers, and grow as a community. There are no prerequisites for joining a session.

We certainly don’t pretend to have all the answers, and that’s exactly why we call this a community of practice. This is a place to learn from and with each other, to grapple with the inequities that exist in our field, and to practice dialogue around these topics with honesty and civility. As we work through different topics, we encourage you to ask yourself “What am I going to do about it?" This is an important question and should be applied with a high degree of diversity in mind. We’re here to offer quality conversations rooted in truth, reconciliation, equity, and opportunity. This form of action is much needed.

If you want to stay in touch with more people looking to grow together, join the JEDI CoP listserv. You can learn more about our JEDI Initiatives and opportunities at kaee.org/jedi.
