Volunteer & Engage

Affinity Groups (1).jpg

KAEE affinity groups are a great way to engage with your EE peers across Kentucky! These groups are meant to help connect educators who identify as one or more of the following: Young Professional (U30), EE Organizational Leader, Formal Educator, LGBTQ+ Educator, BIPOC Educator, Higher Education Professional, Early Childhood Educator. Within these groups, you can ask questions, share resources, and coordinate with your peers in a safe space. While we appreciate allies, please remember that affinity groups are not the space for allies. Click the button below for full details and/or to join!

KAEE action teams are designed to help us in implementing various facets of our work from the events we host to the strategies and tasks we have identified in our strategic plan.  These are a great opportunity to get more involved in KAEE and to network with other environmental educators around the state. Click the button below to learn more about the teams and how you can take action to promote change and progress in our field!

Get Engaged!

There are many ways to contribute to KAEE and we'd love for YOU to join us! Check out the ladder of engagement info below, and let us know when you're ready to get started.

Step 1. A great way to gain hands-on experience and to get to know other KAEE members, board, and staff is to attend a member event or service project. You can become a member here.

Step 2. Join us for our annual conference. Each fall, we host a state-wide EE conference in different parts of the state, and we invite you to join us for a few days of learning, connection, engagement, and fun! Learn more about our conference here.

Step 3. At KAEE we love collaboration, and we invite you to join one of our impactful action teams. Whether it's JEDI work, advancing environmental literacy, or something altogether different, let us know where you might best like to serve.

Step 4. To get a sense for the behind the scenes work done by our Board of Directors, you can shadow a board meeting.

Step 5. We welcome our volunteers to serve and contribute by joining our Board of Directors when applications are open.

There is no mandatory order in which these opportunities must happen, but we hope this "ladder of engagement" inspires you to join us in whatever way best fits you! Please contact perry@kaee.org for more information or to get started.
